Former De Graff utility clerk accused of theft in office

A former utility clerk for the village of De Graff is accused of stealing cash payments of more than $150,000.

Jennifer Dearwester, 48, appeared Friday in Logan County Common Pleas Court after she was indicted for for theft in office, aggravated theft and three counts of tampering with records, all felony charges.

She served as a utility clerk from September 2006 to March 2018. The thefts reportedly happened between January 2014 and March 2018, according to the Ohio Auditor’s Office.

Dearwester pleaded not guilty during her court appearance, when a jury trial was scheduled for June 18.
