Authorities at the scene said Cragg and a woman were arrested after a police pursuit that began as a traffic stop at 7:49 p.m. on Lafayette and Maryland avenues. Speeds reached up to 85 mph before the chase ended with the suspects’ SUV slamming into a house at Kenton and York streets.

Cragg and the woman were trapped when the vehicle came to rest on its top and catching fire. Springfield fire crews pulled the occupants from the vehicle and extinguished the flames. Both were taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, police said Thursday.
