1 in custody in Springfield stabbing, police say

UPDATE @ 9:05 p.m.: The victim stabbed at the Main Stop Food Mart on West Main Street this afternoon has walked out of the hospital against medical advice, a Springfield police lieutenant said. The man suffered wounds to his abdomen and back.

The assailant is in the Clark County Jail, detained pending the filing of a felonious assault charge, the lieutenant said.

UPDATE @ 6:30 p.m.: One man is in custody in the stabbing and the victim remains at Springfield Regional Medical Center, a Springfield police lieutenant said.

The person in police custody is a male and the victim also is a male. Police are still trying to sort out what led to the incident at the Main Stop Food Mart, 637 W. Main St., the lieutenant said.

UPDATE @ 5:41 p.m.: The victim in the stabbing reported on West Main Street has been taken to a hospital and Springfield police are speaking with people on scene.

The victim’s condition is not known.

FIRST REPORT

Springfield police are investigating a stabbing in the 600 block of West Main Street.

About 5:20 p.m. Thursday, a man was reportedly stabbed twice, in the back and abdomen. The incident happened at West Main and South Light streets.
