Litton initially tried to say the boy had run into a wall, investigators said. But they added it was obvious the injuries could not have been self-inflicted.
“As soon as you see his face, you can obviously tell something horrible has happened to this child,” Clark County Sheriff’s Office Detective Darlene Buxton said.
Litton later admitted that he became angry when his son ate toilet paper, so he grabbed the boy by the ear, squeezed his face and other parts of his body in an effort to make him listen, according to his arrest report.
Litton is scheduled to be arraigned in a Clark County Common Pleas court later this week.

A 26-year-old German Twp. man is accused of assaulting his 3-year-old son last week, leaving bruises that were still visible when the child was hospitalized five days later.
Christopher M. Litton, of 1750 Baker Rd., Apt. 63, was arrested early Tuesday and booked into the Clark County Jail on charges of domestic violence, assault and endangering children, all first degree misdemeanors.
The boy’s mother, Chauntae Neff, who hasn’t dated Litton since before their son was born, said he recently reached out to her wanting a relationship with the boy. She agreed to allow her son to stay with him Sept. 2 and 3, when the injuries to the boy allegedly occurred.
Litton then asked her if the boy could stay a few days longer.
“Which sounded off to me, but I said, ‘Great… if you’re going to have a relationship with him, that’s great,’” Neff said.
But when she picked up the boy after five days she noticed bruises on his back and face along with scratches on his face. She took the him to Dayton Children’s Hospital where deputies were notified.
“It looks like a grown man beat him, and that’s what happened,” she said.

“This is not discipline. This is abuse,” Buxton said.
Litton remained in the jail Wednesday evening with bond set at $2,000. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 21.
