10 children hurt in school bus-car crash

A 16-year-old driver from West Mansfield was cited on a traffic violation after he caused a collision with a school bus Tuesday afternoon that sent 10 children to a hospital.

Nine of 46 children on a Benjamin Logan school bus and one of two juvenile passengers in the 16-year-old’s car were taken to Mary Rutan Hospital, all suffering from minor injuries in the accident on State Route 47, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol post at Marysville.

According to the OSP, the bus driven by Jennifer Noble, 42, was headed east on 47 and entered the intersection at County Road 12 when it was struck by a Honda Accord headed south on 12 driven by William Lockwood, at about 3:18 p.m.

Troopers determined that Lockwood failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign.

Neither he nor Noble were injured and remained at the scene to speak with troopers.
