Some Clark County roads closed due to high water, downed lines

Rain continues to fall in the Miami Valley, resulting in flooding, high waters and even road closures.

The Clark County Engineer’s Office announced the following roads in Clark County are closed today: Union Road between Spangler Road and Lower Valley Pike due to high water, Spangler Road between Victory Road and Lower Valley Pike due to high water, and Old Columbus Road between Ogden Road and Tuttle Road for electric lines down.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Clark County until 8 p.m. today, due to a forecast of occasional showers with periods of heavier rain falling on already-saturated ground, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The National Weather Service recommends residents keep an eye on the weather and be prepared for action should heavy rains and flooding occur. It also said to avoid low-lying areas, and be careful when approaching highway dips and underpasses.

The forecast calls for showers today and tonight, with a high near 64 and a low of around 51 degrees.
