Wright State Raiders lose recruit Davenport to prep school

Jeremiah Davenport, who was expected to be part of a decorated recruiting classfor Wright State, announced Thursday he received a release from his national letter of intent.

Davenport tweeted that he will enroll in prep school next season before reopening his recruitment as a member of the Class of 2019.

The Moeller High School product is the fifth player to either leave the WSU program or step away before starting in the last year.

Redshirt freshman Everett Winchester announced he was transferringlast week, while earlier this offseason junior guard Tye Wilburn also transferred.

Senior Justin Mitchell left the team 16 games into last season, and freshman recruit Tyler Mitchell stepped away before the year began.

The Raiders are coming off a season when they went 25-10 and advanced to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2007. The 25 wins were a Division I program record.
