Godlove named Cedarville High boys hoops coach

Ryan Godlove replaces Todd Shuttleworth who served in job 6 seasons.

CEDARVILLE — Ryan Godlove has been named the boys basketball coach at Cedarville High School.

Godlove, the team’s junior varsity coach last season, replaces Todd Shuttleworth, who was nonrenewed after coaching the team for six seasons.

“We had some really good applicants and he did a good job of showing that he deserved it,” said Indians Athletic Director Glen Satchell.

Godlove, a 2002 East Clinton graduate who played at Cincinnati Christian University, said he’s ready to get started.

“(Being a head coach) has been a dream of mine ever since I got started with basketball,” Godlove said.

He said being with the team last year will help him implement his program a lot quicker.

“I already have an idea of where they’re at and what we need to do to get ready for next year,” said Godlove, 27.

The Indians went 4-16 last season. Godlove said the key to winning will be fundamentals, as well as building the program from the bottom up.

“Winning will come if we get back to the basics,” Godlove said.

The Indians return just two seniors, but have a strong junior class that saw a lot of action last season.

“I’m ready to get started,” Godlove said. “The future looks bright if we can get things rolling.”
