Your Amazon delivery will likely be free this holiday season, even without Prime

Amazon will expand its free shipping options to non-Prime members for the first time this holiday season.

As other retailers like Target and Walmart add free two-day shipping in attempt to keep up with Amazon, the online giant has taken a page out of its one playbook, adding free five to eight day shipping for everyone and free same-day shipping for Prime members on more than 3 million items.

“This holiday, customers can enjoy free shipping with no minimum purchase amount on orders that will arrive in time for Christmas, including items from Amazon’s expertly curated Gift Guides across electronics, fashion, home and toys,” said Doug Herrington, senior vice president of North American Retail at Amazon.

Last year, holiday shoppers had to spend at least $25 on Amazon for free shipping. This promotion will last for a limited time, but no end date has been announced.

Online sales are expected to rise nearly 15 percent this year as consumer shopping habits change, shaking up traditional package delivery.
