A look at events happening in the area this week:

Schools’ hearing tonight

The Springfield City School District will hold a public hearing on the use of state funds at 5 p.m. tonight at The Dome, 700 S. Limestone St., third floor, in the ‘Trust’ meeting room.

The district receives funds through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) via the Consolidated Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP) that are called Title funds or Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) funds. These funds are used to provide financial assistance to districts and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to make sure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

The district welcomes the general public and parents of children enrolled to provide input regarding the use of these funds at the hearing. Comments may also be sent to Pamela Shay, director of federal programs, via mail at the same address or via email at shaypk@scsdoh.org.
