“I commend her for the race she ran. I look forward to having good conversations with her,” he said.
Lopez, a Democrat, extended her congratulations to Gould.
“I’m really proud we both ran a clean race. We made that decision together,” Lopez said. “I’d like to thank those that supported me, the voters … There have been many wonderful people. I do very much appreciate their support.”

Voters also defeated a new tax to fund Xenia streets improvements 54 to 46 percent, according to final, unofficial results.
The results from four county-wide renewal levies:
- Issue 5, levy to fund Greene County Hospital operations passed 62 to 38 percent;
- Issue 6, levy to fund Greene County Children Services passed 74 to 26 percent;
- Issue 7, levy to support Greene County Council on Aging passed 75 to 25 percent;
- Issue 8, levy that funds Greene County Developmental Disabilities passed 67 to 33 percent.

UPDATE @ 7:48 p.m.: Dick Gould is leading Susan Lopez 58 percent to 42 percent as the top vote-getter for a seat on the county commission.
That is according to early, unofficial results from the Greene County Board of Elections.
For the Xenia streets levy, the results are close at 51 percent for to 49 percent against the new tax; voters are approving the four county-wide renewal levies by wide margins.
EARLIER: Voters in Greene County today will determine who replaces Alan Anderson on the board of commissioners as well as the outcome of four taxes up for renewal this year.
Voters in Xenia will decide on a new tax that would help fund the city’s street maintenance program.
County Treasurer Dick Gould won the Republican May primary race against incumbent Anderson. His Democratic opponent Susan Lopez is the director of the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Family Resource Center.
Greene voters haven’t elected a Democrat to the county commission for more than three decades, according to elections records.
Today’s winner will serve a four-year term on the county commission, earning an annual salary of $55,970 and receiving the same benefits offered to county employees, including health insurance.
Xenia voters will see Issue 11 on the ballot. With voters’ approval, the 10-year, 3.5-mill levy would lead to $1.3 million a year in new revenue for street improvements. The new tax would cost homeowners about $123 a year on every $100,000 worth of property.
There are four county-wide, 5-year taxes up for renewal at current tax rates.
- Issue 5: A .5-mill levy to fund Greene County Hospital operations. The tax generates about $1.75 million a year at a cost to property owners of about $14 a year per $100,000 worth of property.
- Issue 6: A 1.5-mill levy to fund Greene County Children Services. The tax generates about $5.4 million a year while costing property owners about $46 a year for every $100,000 worth of property.
- Issue 7: A 1.4 mill levy to support Greene County Council on Aging. The tax generates $5.5 million annually while costing property owners $42.98 a year per $100,000 valuation.
- Issue 8: A 3.5-mill levy funds Greene County Developmental Disabilities. The tax generates $11.6 million a year while costing property owners about $96 a year for every $100,000 worth of property.
