State trooper from Springfield rounds up loose miniature horse

A Springfield trooper rounded up a miniature horse on Tuesday.

Trooper Ratcliff with the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was dispatched to the loose horse, according to a Facebook post on the OSHP page.

He was able to catch the horse using a rescue rope from his patrol car and lead it safely to its owner.

“Catching horses was not covered at the OSHP Academy, but ‘adaptability’ was,” the post stated.

Many community members took to the post to comment on the incident.

“Great job Trooper Ratcliff! That’s thinking outside the box,” Richard DAndrea said.

“I see he’s smiling so he must have enjoyed the assignment...,” Lisa Fisher said.

“Outstanding work accomplished by a outstanding State Highway Patrol Officer. Very nicely done and I’m sure deeply appreciated by its owner,” Dana Crouse said.
