“I am honored and humbled to serve in this role and know that the entire Board of Trustees looks forward to working with the University of Dayton family to enhance the work of the past to ensure a bright and exciting future,” Boosalis said in a prepared statement.
Boosalis has served as a UD trustee for nine years, currently serves on the Executive Committee and is past chair of the finance and facilities committees. UD and Premier have formed a close relationship in recent years, and Boosalis’s rise to chairwoman is just the latest indicator of that.
UD and Premier jointly announced early in 2017 that they would buy the former Montgomery County Fairgrounds together. UD and Premier each paid $5.25 million of the $15 million purchase price.
With a gift from Premier, UD also plans to create a new “Center for Cybersecurity and Data Intelligence,” the university announced in January 2017. The approximately $3 million center will be located at Miriam Hall on UD’s core campus.

Premier is also expected to be involved in a joint nursing program UD is creating with Sinclair Community College.
Boosalis will recuse herself from all matters involving the former fairgrounds and any other business UD has with Premier, UD president Eric Spina said in a prepared statement.
Premier Health is the largest private employer in the region and as of 2017 had around 13,800 employees and $1.69 billion in revenue. The health system operates Miami Valley Hospital, Atrium Medical Center and Upper Valley Medical Center, as well as a large physician network.
