Numerous stolen vehicles reported in past week, sheriff’s office says

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said it has had ”numerous reports” of stolen vehicles this past week and is warning people not to leave their vehicles running unattended.

The sheriff’s office said the vehicle thefts were reported in the west side of Clark County, according to a post on the CCSO’s Facebook.

“All of these vehicles were left running to warm up and were also left unlocked,” the post stated.

If anyone has any information regarding the vehicle thefts, contact Detective Brian Melchi at 937-521-2068.

A few people commented on the post, stating their vehicles were stolen but shortly found.

“It’s true! My grandma’s van was running and someone drove off in it on the west end! Thankfully, it was found by deputies three days later! We appreciate your help on getting it back!,” Christopher McGhee commented.

“My car was stolen on the east end. The person that stole it didn’t know how to drive a stick shift, so the police only found it 10 minutes later with a burnt clutch,” Courtney Jo Sanchez commented.

The sheriff’s office is reminding the public to lock their vehicles and always stay alert.

“Remote car starters are generally safe, but if you need to enter your vehicle to start it - even with a key fob - it should not be left unattended... Just because your car is push button start and you have the fob in your pocket, remember that someone can still get in your car and steal it,” the post stated.

Additional information regarding the thefts was not available.
