Northeastern Local School District is looking to fill a vacancy on its school board.

“The vacancy is due to the resignation of Steve Schwitzgable, long-time teacher, coach, and board member in the district. The board would like to thank Mr. Schwitgable for his many years of service," said Superintendent John Kronour. “We look forward to hearing from residents who share that same spirit of service for our students, our staff, and our community.”

Schwitzgable did not want to comment, but board president Jill Parker said, “he was a tremendous asset to our school district and will be greatly missed on the board.”

The individual chosen to fill the vacancy will serve through Dec. 31, 2021 as the seat is up for re-election on Nov. 2, 2021.

Residents interested in the position are asked to submit a letter of interest as soon as possible to the four active board members at jillparker@nelsd.org, joelaugustus@nelsd.org, johncrankshaw@nelsd.org, and jeffyinger@nelsd.org. Any questions can also be sent to any member of the board.

Applications are due by Friday, Oct. 23, and may include a resume as well as the letter of interest.

A special board meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 2 to interview the candidates and select the new board member.
