Mechanicsburg Public Library to display quilts

The Mechanicsburg Public Library will display three quilts by textile artist Sue King between Dec. 13, 2013 and Jan. 10, 2014. King has been making quilts for 30 years.

The quilts often depict places she has traveled to and sometimes includes photographs printed on textiles. King, of Lancaster, Ohio, is a member of Studio Art Quilt Associates, Common Threads Quilt Guild, and Southern Ohio Women Artists.

One of her quilts it titled, “Trouble in These Fields: Mechanicsburg, Ohio 1936,” and dipicts Virgil Thaxson, a farmer from the area. That quilt has since been sold but the quilts on display depict men working in fields in the 1930s. For more information, residents can call the library at 937-834-2004.
