The Ohio State Highway Patrol says drivers should always be on the lookout for motorcyclists on the highway, at the intersection and any time you’re changing lanes.

They also say you want to allow plenty of space in front of the vehicle you’re driving and don’t follow a motorcycle too close.
Marshall Foiles of Buckminn’s D&D Harley Davidson recommends wearing a helmet.
“We recommend wearing helmets. A helmet is a great thing; it’s going to save your head. If you go down, it’s the only thing that’s going to save your head,” he said.

Ohio law requires helmets for certain motorcycle riders, and passengers must also wear helmets when the driver is required to do so.
“First year rider or with a permit, you have to wear a helmet. Other than that, it’s a choice,” said Foiles.
According to 2017 data from the OSP, 157 fatal crashes involved motorcycles and only 29 percent of the motorcyclists killed were wearing helmets.
