A vigil was held Sunday night in remembrance of Lindsey Marsh, the pregnant woman fatally shot allegedly by her boyfriend in Springfield last week.

Family and friends gathered with candles and photos in memory of the woman they said taught them to be strong.

“I think everybody’s just been keeping it together for her because she was the backbone. She was the strong one out of everybody,” said one of Marsh’s friends.

Police say Marsh was shot in the side of the head by her boyfriend, 25-year-old Travis Hypes, during an argument between the couple that escalated into a shoving match.

Marsh was more than 30 weeks pregnant at the time she was shot, and doctors were able to save the baby girl, delivered via C-section at Miami Valley Hospital.

Hypes is being held on a $750,000 bond in the Clark County jail on charges of felonious assault. It is not clear whether he will face additional charges in Marsh’s death.

He is due in court today.
