Looking back in Springfield: peek inside a 1900s grocery store

Edward L. Monger, a former machinist who came to Ohio from Indiana in the 1880s, opened a grocery store in Tremont in the early 1900s.

McKinley later went on to work at one of the many Kroger’s bakery and groceries in Springfield and Edward Monger moved to New Carlisle where he opened Monger’s Grocery on Main Street.
