Cincinnati Shooting: Coroner releases new details

UPDATE @ 1:07 p.m.

Two of the three victims in the shooting at the Fifth Third Center in Cincinnati were shot multiple times, said Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco.

One victim was shot once. One was shot seven times. One had four gunshot wounds. She did not identify which victim was shot how many times.

The fatal shot that killed the gunman, Omar Santa-Perez, came from a shotgun, the coroner said. Police have previously said they fatally killed Santa-Perez during the firefight.

The coroner said she received surveillance video Monday. She said it was hard to watch and called the shooter “off the rails” and “intent on doing damage.”

“There was no hesitation in what he did. He was running back and forth between the elevator banks. He repeatedly shot the victims,” she said. “We don’t see cases like this.”

“All I can say to the families is we are truly sorry for what they’re going through,” she said. “I never would have imagined this would happen in Cincinnati.”

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an afternoon press conference to discuss new information regarding the deadly Cincinnati shooting at the Fifth Third Center in downtown last week.

The press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m.
