Motorcyclist rear-ends school bus near South Vienna; no students injured

UPDATE @ 4:25 p.m.: A motorcyclist has been taken to a hospital after a rear-end collision with a school bus that had stopped to let off students, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The condition of the motorcyclist was not immediately known.

None of the 20 or so students on the bus was injured, troopers said.

U.S. 40 East (National Road), shut down for the accident and investigation, has reopened to traffic.

INITIAL REPORT

Multiple emergency crews have responded to a crash Wednesday afternoon reportedly involving a school bus and motorcycle on East National Road near South Vienna.

The crash was reported on East National Road, west of Ohio 54, about 2:35 p.m.

The motorcyclist reportedly suffered injuries in the crash but the severity of the injuries wasn’t immediately known. A CareFlight helicopter initially placed on standby was later canceled.

The school bus is reportedly a Northeastern Local Schools bus but no students were injured, according to emergency scanner traffic.
