Clark State Community College has been awarded $899,229 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

The grant is to help combat the opioid epidemic due to many people in rural areas having limited access to medication-assisted treatment.

“With our evidence-based strategy, HHS is working to support local communities in fighting back against substance abuse, and our united efforts are yielding results,” HHS Secretary Alex Azar said.

The new proposed paraprofessionals certificate will develop, implement and expand the knowledge, skills and abilities of graduates as they work for, and with, community partners to deliver needed services to combat addiction.

Clark State will partner with multiple employers and agencies in Clark, Greene, Champaign, Logan, Madison and Montgomery counties to ensure successful delivery of the paraprofessionals education and training programs.
