Kroger will build two new distribution centers in Florida and the Mid-Atlantic to improve the company’s stocking and delivery ability for its digital orders.
The largest regional grocer and Ocado, its online grocery arm, will build 20 of the fulfillment centers or “sheds” across the country. The first was announced late last year to be built in Monroe — a $55 million investment that will bring 410 new jobs.

The centers are part of plans to speed up grocery e-commerce and delivery through automated warehouses with digital and robotic capabilities.
Leaders say the technology plays a crucial role in adapting to the changing retail landscape in the United States.
Kroger has more than 2,800 stores in its family of brands across the country. The company is headquartered in Cincinnati.
