One person was flown to a Dayton hospital after a two-car crash that caused one of the vehicles to strike the porch of a house.

Springfield emergency responders were dispatched to the crash at the corner of McCreight and Fountain avenues about noon Wednesday, including three medic units.

Firefighters and medics working the crash were seen carefully removing parts of a car that had struck a porch of the home at 1133 Fountain Ave. They were able to remove a person from the wreck who was sitting in the passenger side after several minutes.

Authorities at the scene said that patient was expected to be flown by medical helicopter from Springfield Regional Medical Center. A name or condition of the patient had not been released Wednesday.

A sports utility vehicle was also involved in the crash. The SUV had most of its front end destroyed and came to a rest on McCreight Avenue. The SUV was towed away from the scene while the responders worked to get the last victim out of the other car.

Crews were on scene for at least an hour.

A police report on the accident wasn't available Wednesday afternoon.
