Heavy smoke was coming from the first and second floors of a two-story duplex Tuesday evening when they responded to a fire.

There were no injuries in the fire reported around 6:15 p.m. at the vacant duplex in the 700 block of West Mulberry Street.

The fire spread to both sides of the duplex and is believed to have caused a total loss of the building.

Crews blocked West Mulberry Street and South Shaffer Street as they put out the fire.

The fire is under investigation.
