The rain is a result of a low-pressure system colliding with a column of wet tropical air pushing north and east from Hurricane Zeta, which slammed into the gulf coast Wednesday night after smashing into Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula on Tuesday.
Since we've received questions regarding winds and power outages from Zeta, we wanted to make it clear that heavy rain is the main local threat. Wind gusts of 20-30 mph are possible due to broad low pressure, but localized flooding remains the primary concern. #ohwx #inwx #kywx pic.twitter.com/RO8ze4I3kc

Rain will continue throughout the afternoon, but will gradually decrease with drier conditions returning late this evening.
Aside from the rain, temperatures will be below normal today and tonight, with highs only reaching around 47 degrees during the day before falling to around 37 degrees overnight.
By Friday morning, however, the rain is expected to have cleared. This will be followed by the cloud cover, which the NWS expects to steadily break up as the day goes on. Temperatures will be around the same during the day, with highs around 49 degrees.
Once night falls, though, temperatures are expected to drop to around freezing, with lows around 31 degrees, leading to widespread frost.
The frost is expected to clear after the sun comes up on Saturday morning. Skies will be mostly sunny on Halloween, with highs rising a little higher to around 54 degrees.
Halloween night also will be mostly clear to showcase the night’s full, blue moon. Overnight lows will be around 43 degrees
