Funeral services scheduled for Springfield City School District student killed in crash

Funeral services have been scheduled for the Springfield City School District student-athlete who was killed in a rollover crash earlier this week.

Destiny Wells, 17, died on Monday after her car hit a tree and rolled over multiple times, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

She was a student at Springfield Clark/Career Technology Center a member of the Springfield High School women’s varsity basketball team, according to a statement from SCSD Superintendent Bob Hill.

Wells was heading south on Old Clifton Road at 4 a.m. when the 2008 Honda Accord she was driving went off the left side of the road. the car struck a tree before overturning multiple times, according to troopers.

The teen was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Wells’ visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 21 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. at Greater Grace Temple in Springfield, according to her obituary. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
