Fire heavily damages Springfield home

A fire broke out Friday evening, heavily damaging a house in Springfield.

The fire was reported around 5:45 p.m. at a two-story home on Weimer Section Street between Mound and East High streets.

The exterior wall on the back of the house was destroyed, so charred interior rooms could be seen from the outside.

Weimer Section Street, off Walnut Alley, was closed while the Springfield Fire Division was on the scene.

There were no reports of injuries, but it’s not clear how the fire started.
