The incident was caught on security camera from a home nearby.
“There was spitting going on, all kinds of punching and kicking,” said Jacks, who described injuries to his knees, head and hands.
He said his friend also had injuries to his head and legs, and a broken nose that requires surgery.
The teens, between 13 and 17, were taken to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on Friday.
Jacks’ mother, who declined to give her name, returned home to find her son with the police. She said what happened shocked her.
"They took their wallet, their cellphones, it's just terrible," she said.
Jacks said he's glad it was not worse but said something needs to be done.
"We have too much violence here in Springfield and that's something that needs to be cleaned up from up top from the police department, from the city, from community service ... everything that needs to go down to help this city be what it used to be," he said.
Six juveniles who were involved in a street fight on Friday afternoon in Springfield were arrested and charged with assault and robbery, police said.
Home security camera recorded the incident that happened around 1:10 p.m. on Morgan Street, which was shared by a resident on Facebook.
Springfield police said six boys arrested were each charged with robbery and assault for taking the wallet and cellphone of one of the two adult men they attacked. The youths were taken to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center, but it’s not clear whether they are still at the facility.
