VIDEO: Springfield street fight caught on tape; victim speaks out

UPDATE @ 11:45 p.m. (April 16)

Six juveniles who were involved in a street fight on Friday afternoon in Springfield were arrested and charged with assault and robbery, police said.

Police say the youths attacked two young adult men around 1:10 p.m. on Morgan Street.

One victim spoke out Sunday evening, and said he believes the act was planned. It all started when Kyle Jacks was trying to leave in his car with a friend when he noticed a bike in the middle of the road.

“I was going to pick up the bike, get it out of the road. I was on my may somewhere, needed to get the bike out of the way,” he said. “Guys came off the porch and decided to surround me and my friend.”

The incident was caught on security camera from a home nearby.

“There was spitting going on, all kinds of punching and kicking,” said Jacks, who described injuries to his knees, head and hands.

He said his friend also had injuries to his head and legs, and a broken nose that requires surgery.

The teens, between 13 and 17, were taken to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on Friday.

Jacks’ mother, who declined to give her name, returned home to find her son with the police. She said what happened shocked her.

"They took their wallet, their cellphones, it's just terrible," she said.

Jacks said he's glad it was not worse but said something needs to be done.

"We have too much violence here in Springfield and that's something that needs to be cleaned up from up top from the police department, from the city, from community service ... everything that needs to go down to help this city be what it used to be," he said.
