Victim identified after shooting on Southfield Avenue

Two people were taken into custody in the wake of a shooting early Sunday in Springfield that left one woman dead.

The victim, a woman, was shot to death around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, May 16, in a home on Southfield Avenue, according to police.

The victim was identified as Julie Ann Snyder, 21, according to the Clark County Coroner.

Investigators are questioning two people “of interest,” said Springfield Police Division Chief Stephen Moody.

He would not speculate whether an altercation preceded the shooting, citing an ongoing investigation.

“There were people here in this home who were going about their business and we had shots fired and an individual who is deceased,” he said.

Two suspects were taken in for questioning following a traffic stop on Kenton Street about two hours after the shooting, Moody said.

No charges had been filed as of late Sunday.

No other injuries were reported.
