A judge gave Michaela Anderson, 19, a prison sentence of 15 months last week for her role in the March robbery at Security National Bank, 828 Scioto St.
Anderson drove Ryan Seibert, 22, of Springfield, to the bank where — wearing a stocking over his face — he allegedly demanded money from bank employees who were carrying a bag containing more than $10,000 cash to the outside ATM in the parking lot.
Seibert was a former employee of the bank, Urbana Police Sgt. Ed Burkhammer said.
Eye witnesses in the area saw Anderson’s car and were key in giving investigators the license plate number, Burkhammer said.
The pair were named as suspects not long after the crime, but were on the run until Sept. 23. Urbana police spent months investigating the case, including trips to Florida where it was believed Seibert and Anderson had fled.
Anderson pleaded guilty to a fourth degree felony of attempted robbery on Nov. 20.
In addition to the 15 months in prison, Champaign County Common Pleas Court Judge Nick Selvaggio ordered Anderson to pay more than $10,500 in restitution to the bank and a $250 fine, according to court records.
Seibert pleaded guilty on Nov. 30 to felony charges of theft, robbery, receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence.
A sentencing date in his case is scheduled for Dec. 29 and Seibert faces a possible maximum sentence of eight and a half years in prison and more than $27,000 in fines, according to court records.
