Both Milem and Boardmen were listed in fair condition Sunday, according to hospital officials. Milem was listed in critical condition late Friday and Boardmen was listed in serious condition late Thursday.
Brandon Longshore, 15, the passenger in the other car driven by Lynn Carine, 51, was in serious condition late Thursday, but had been discharged sometime between then and early Sunday afternoon, according to the hospital. Carine suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.
Milem was charged Friday with operating a vehicle while intoxicated after the crash in the 2300 block of Lake Road, Ohio Highway Patrol Lt. Matt C. Cleaveland said.
The accident occurred just after 10:30 p.m. when the green Chevrolet Malibu Milem was driving struck a Toyota Corolla driven by Carine as she backed out of a driveway along Lake Road, according to authorities.
Milem was driving southbound on the road at a high rate of speed without headlights on when he struck the Corolla and forced it across the northbound lane of the road and into a field, OHP Sgt. Mark Nichols said.
Milem then lost control of the vehicle, which careened down the road flipping once or twice before coming to a stop in front of a tree at 2344 Lake Road, Nichols said.
Milem and Boardmen were not wearing seat belts and were partially ejected from the vehicle, Cleaveland said.
Kenzie Parker, 17, said Longshore and Carine were leaving her home when they were hit.
“I didn’t see it, but I heard it,” Parker said. “I thought it was a cannon going off.”
OSP officials said the wreckage stretched about 200 feet.
Along with driving while intoxicated, Milem was also cited with failure to display headlights and failure to wear his seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
