Springfield police are investigating two weekend gun incidents.
Officers responded around 10 a.m. Friday to the 800 block of South Lowry Street on a shots fired report.
“(The victim) stated that he was in his living room of his home and was looking out the window when he began hearing gun shots,” according to a police report. “(The victim) then got down behind a cover until the shots stopped, then looked out the window again and observed a small black car driving northbound on South Lowry Street.”
Police found two spent casings near the house and two spent rounds inside the home.
On Saturday, officers responded around 5:30 p.m. to the 500 block of Northern Avenue in reference to a gun theft.
“(The victim) stated that he noticed his “Stag” Model 3 AR-15 with a fully loaded 30 round magazine and a round in the chamber was missing,” according to a police report. “(The victim) went and checked where he keeps his Springfield Armory XDM .45 caliber pistol and noticed it was missing as well. He stated the pistol had a fully loaded 13 round magazine with a round in the chamber.”
No suspect information was available for either incident, and Springfield police continue their investigations.
