Springfield police are investigating a shots fired incident that happened early Saturday morning.
Officers responded around 12:25 a.m. to the area of Selma and East streets on a report of shots being fired, according to a Springfield police report.
“Dispatch advised that they had received multiple calls about gunshots in the area,” the report says. “All callers reported hearing between 7 to 8 shots.”
A resident from a home on Essex Street told officers a silver Pontiac Grand Am left the area quickly after the shots were fired. She showed officers a clip of surveillance camera that caught the vehicle leaving.
“Showed a silver vehicle exiting a N/S alley, directly to the west of Essex. As the vehicle quickly exited the alley, it turned west on Essex, and left the area,” the report says.
As officers were checking the area, they located damage to a silver Lincoln Town Car parked on East Street.
“This vehicle had multiple bullet holes, as well as shattered glass,” the report says. “Near this vehicle, seven spent .40 caliber shell casings were also located.”
No suspect information was available.
Springfield police continue their investigation into this incident.
