Clark County Common Pleas Court Judge Richard J. O’Neill today will ask the prosecution and defense attorneys to make opening arguments to all prospective jurors. Then later today jury selection is expected to be made in this trial against Kyle X. Bonaparte.

A Springfield man accused of killing two people at an apartment complex is set to face a jury starting Tuesday.
Kyle X. Bonaparte, 20, faces three counts of murder and another count of tampering evidence. He was indicted on the felony charges by a Clark County grand jury in October 2017.

Clark County Prosecutor Andy Wilson said his office is prepared to try the case on Tuesday. A phone call to defense attorney Shawn Thomas wasn’t returned at press time.
Bonaparte has been accused of killing Joshua Brown, 26, and Raina Beal, 23. Brown died after he was shot multiple times at an apartment in the 1300 block of Delta Road on Oct. 4, according to police. Beal was shot in the head during the altercation in the apartment, according to investigators, and later died due to her injuries.

Brown allegedly told police Bonaparte shot him prior to being transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center and dying there, according to court records.
A witness later told police she and the two victims had been inside the apartment most of the day. A man named “Chiraq” knocked on the door and entered the apartment with another man named “Packy,” the court records say.
The men began arguing and Chiraq said, “I don’t have time for the (expletive),” then allegedly pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot Brown in the chest, police said in court records.

Brown then began shooting back and the two allegedly exchanged several rounds of gunfire, court records say. Beal was caught between the two and was shot, police said.
Bonaparte faces two counts of murder in connection with Brown’s death, including an alternative charge for allegedly causing his death as a result of felonious assault, prosecutors said. Bonaparte also faces one count in connection with Beal’s death.
