A Nevada woman visiting relatives in the ICU at Springfield Regional Medical Center on Monday told Springfield police her wallet ,containing cash and several debit and identification cards, valued at more than $1,100, was stolen out of her purse in a waiting room.
She left the purse in the waiting room and when she returned, the wallet was gone. Security video didn’t show anyone leaving the area with her purse. STAFF REPORT

Man shoots at animal
A Moorefield Twp. man was charged with using weapons while intoxicated after he told Clark County sheriff’s deputies he fired a gun at a coyote in the back yard of his home early Sunday morning.
According to a report, Jason R. Massie, 34, of 4828 Curtis Drive, told deputies he shot at the animal about 5:15 a.m. because he feared for his safety.
Deputies alleged Massie was intoxicated and told them different chains of events during their investigations and indicated tracks from the alleged coyote were likely to be a raccoon or a cat.
Another residence was directly behind where he said he’d fired the shot. A handgun, ammunition and a spent casing were collected as evidence. STAFF REPORT

Woman ordered in on assault charge
Ann Asbury, 41, of Franklin, Ohio, was ordered into court Sunday night on an assault charge.
She’s accused of hitting a 31-year-old woman in the head, leaving a bump, about 7:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of East National Road. STAFF REPORT
