Police arrest suspect in bank robbery

A man was arrested just hours after police responded to the PNC bank when it was robbed Friday afternoon.

Aaron Salyers, 32, 616 N. Murray St., pleaded not guilty to a charge of robbery in a Clark County Municipal Court arraignment Monday morning.

A man entered the PNC bank, 2025 E. Main St., just after 12:30 p.m. Friday and handed a note to the teller that read “please give me the money, thank you have a nice day,” police said.

The teller handed the man — who was dressed in a red, hooded jacket — more than $2,000 and he left the bank on foot, police said.

Salyers was linked as a possible suspect in the robbery after officers looked through security footage at the bank, according to court documents. Officers who had responded to Burger King on East Main Street earlier in the day saw a man in similar clothing on the security cameras there, police said.

Detectives went to Burger King and questioned workers there who said they knew the man, identified him as Salyers, and told police he had been at the restaurant earlier in the day.

Tellers at the bank identified a picture of Salyers as the robbery suspect when detectives complied a photo lineup that included Salyers’ photo, according to court documents.

Police arrested Salyers inside his North Murray Street home just after 3 p.m. Friday, police said, and found a large amount of cash at his home.

Salyers is booked in the Clark County Jail on $20,000 bond.
