A Medway man was arraigned by video Monday morning in Clark County Municipal Court on a rape charge.
Steven Johnson, 25, pleaded not guilty to rape, court records show. He was given a $20,000 bond and remains in the Clark County Jail.
Officers were dispatched around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday to the 200 block of Braun Street for a sex offense, according to an affidavit filed in the case.
When police arrived, they “listened at the garage door and heard a male stating ‘it was a accident, I’m sorry’,” the affidavit said. “The female was crying hysterically and stated she did not want to hear it.”
The victim told police that she was asleep and woke up to the suspect ”on top of her” and sexually assaulting her, according to the affidavit.
The suspect said he was sleep walking and “accidentally had sexual intercourse with” the victim, the affidavit says.
Johnson was then arrested for rape.
