Man tries to rob Burger King with toy gun

A man with a blue cloth mask attempted to rob a Springfield Burger King restaurant with a plastic toy gun around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The man didn’t get very far in his attempt, according to a police report, as when he tapped on the counter with the gun and told employees to get on the ground, they ignored him. The responding officer noted that the employees saw the orange tip on the gun and continued their work “because the drive thru was very busy.”

The would-be robber asked, “didn’t anyone hear what I said?” before lifting his mask and running out of the store. A worker at nearby Cassano’s Pizza took down the man’s licence plate. Kyle A. Anthony, 25, of Springfield, was charged with robbery in the incident.

Man, 82, suffers head injury

A 82-year-old man was in serious condition late Thursday at Miami Valley Hospital after a motorist reported to police that the man may have been hit by a car. Donald L. Culler was found at the end of his driveway at 1858 Devon Dr. at about 10:40 a.m. suffering from a severe head injury.

The motorist said he was backing out of his driveway when he found Culler. The man told a Clark County deputy that he didn’t know whether Culler fell or was struck by his vehicle.
