A Springfield man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly struck two women he knows and later spit on a police officer.
Dayquan M.S. Beal-Ragland, 22, has been charged with two counts of assault and one count each of domestic violence, resisting arrest, disrupting public service, obstructing official business and harassment with a bodily substance.
Officers were sent to the 700 block of Kenton Street at about 9 p.m. Sunday for a possible domestic violence situation, according to multiple police reports.
Beal-Ragland was allegedly in the victim’s face when officers arrived and as they attempted to take him into custody, he pushed a police officer. Officers gained control of the man and as he was being placed in the cruiser, he spit directly in an officer’s face, the report said.
The man then began to bash his head off of the divider and the window of the police cruiser. A spit mask was later placed on the suspect and a police wagon was called to transport Beal-Ragland to the Clark County Jail.
Witnesses told police the man was upset earlier because he wasn’t invited over. After being at the home for about an hour, Beal-Ragland allegedly got angrier and struck one of the victims in the face multiple times with an open hand, pushed her into a wall and started choking her.
Another woman attempted to pepper spray him, but Beal-Ragland struck her in the head, the report said. The woman ran outside to call police, but he threw the phone and grabbed the woman by the hair, pulling her extensions out.
At the jail, Beal-Ragland told officers he would spit on them again if he got out of his cell.
Beal-Ragland is scheduled to appear in the Clark County Municipal Court at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
