Beavercreek police seek vehicle connected to deadly shooting

Beavercreek police are looking for a vehicle connected to Saturday’s shooting death of Nygel S. Gibbs, 24.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Gibbs’ body was found in the parking lot outside Wallaby’s, 2434 Esquire Drive, near the Mall at Fairfield Commons.

The vehicle being sought is a late 90s or early 2000s model Ford Explorer, white/silver or possibly pearl colored, with 20-inch chrome wheels.

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting and encourage anyone with information to contact them at 426-1225 or to utilize the confidential tip line at 320-7393 and remain anonymous.

Gibbs, of 1825 Riverside Drive, was pronounced dead Saturday morning at Miami Valley Hospital, said Sgt. Jim Wuebben, Beavercreek police.

Multiple shots were reportedly fired in the parking lot of the bar near closing time about 2:35 a.m., police said.

Wallaby’s is a nightspot popular with college students.

Police are searching for at least one shooter and possibly another victim who may have fled the scene.

They continue to investigate what led to the shooting, Wuebben said. “Detectives are working through leads at this point, as quickly as they can,” he said.

Montgomery County Common Pleas Court records show Gibbs was arrested on weapons charges twice in 2006 and for felonious assault and tampering with evidence in 2004. Gibbs was arrested just before Christmas for aggravated robbery, according to Montgomery County Jail records.

He faced multiple charges in Dayton Municipal Court for traffic violations, carrying a concealed weapon and assault, according to court records.

A WHIO-TV report from July 2006 said Gibbs was taken by a roommate to Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton after a gunshot to the head ricocheted off his skull.
