Many parents must now take their children to and from school after most of the Bellefontaine City School District’s bus drivers must quarantine due to coronavirus exposure.

Nine of the district’s 12 bus drivers are affected by the 14-day quarantine, Superintendent Brad Hall notified parents on Monday evening.

“While we realize this is a huge inconvenience, we need to continue to have school. In order for us to have school, parents are being asked to provide transportation to and from school each day,” he said.

Buses routes affected by the quarantine include:

  • Bus 3 - jaguars
  • Bus 5 - cats
  • Bus 8 - bears
  • Bus 9 - kangaroos
  • Bus 11 - elephants
  • Bus 12 - horses
  • Bus 13 - dogs
  • Bus 19 - lions
  • Bus 20 - alligators

Not affected are Bus 14 - iguanas, Bus 15 - fish and Bus 16 - giraffes, which will continue with their normal routes.

All buses can resume transporting students Monday, Oct. 19, Hall said.
