Madison Twp. Fire and EMS Chief Christopher Clark said 20 different departments assisted with the fire that was put out around 6:30 a.m.

There were approximately 65 fire response vehicles on scene. The farthest traveled from Darke County.

The structure sustained significant damage, but is salvageable because of crews’ efforts to keep the fire contained to the storage area of the building.

“When you burn pallets you know, they burn quick, they burn hot,” Clark said. “That’s what we were dealing with here was a large amount a lot of pallets inside of the structure … the fire had a head start on us.”

State fire marshals are on scene working to determine the cause of the fire and where it started — an endeavor that could take days or weeks.
