TV antenna not working? Local channels start changing frequencies soon


Television viewers watching their favorite shows with an antenna should expect to see some changes soon.

Nearly 1,000 stations will change frequencies over the next two years, affecting nearly 77 million viewers across the U.S., said TV Answers spokesman Steve Gardner. The frequency change is due to an FCC spectrum auction, Gardner said.

Locally, the first station to change frequencies will be WKOI-TV on June 7, followed by WBDT — also known as The CW —which will move on June 29.

To continue watching the station over the airwaves, viewers will have to re-scan their channels from their TV.

WHIO-TV CBS 7 will move frequencies from Sept. 7, 2019 to Oct. 18, 2019, as will WKEF-ABC22, WRGT-TV FOX 45 and WPTD Public Television 16, according to a schedule of changes.

WDTN NBC 2 will move frequencies on Oct. 18, 2019.
