Weekend events planned to benefit the victims and survivors of the Oregon District shooting

There are numerous ways to get out and support the victims and survivors of the Oregon District shooting this weekend or focus on healing.

A number or area businesses are hosting events to raise money or support wellness and healing.

Here is a sampling of what you can do.

SATURDAY, AUG. 10

Oregon District

Hugs & Healing — A Walk Through The Oregon will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Sip, Eat, Shop, Connect, and get lots of hugs, too, at this event designed to bring people together at the site of last week’s mass shootings to continue the journey of healing.

SUNDAY, AUG. 11

Trauma Relief and Healing Workshop

There will be a free Trauma Relief and Healing Workshop from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at The Brightside Music & Event Venue in downtown Dayton.

The workshop’s schedule includes the following free sessions:

• 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. — Somatic Trauma Resolution with Anjali Brannon from Ayurveda Natural Health Center
• 2:30 - 3.30 p.m. — Guided Relaxation and Meditation with Julie Bowen from Heartfulness Dayton
• 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. — Yoga with BeTrice Casada
• 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. — Pranic Healing with Felisha Beverly

Troll Pub Dayton 

Troll Pub Dayton at 216 Wayne Ave. will host an event Sunday night, Aug. 11, at which Happy Hour specials will be available from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the pub will be raffling off prizes to raise money for a victim relief fund.

ONGOING WAYS TO HELP AND GET INVOLVED

Pizza Hut 

Pizza Hut is accepting customer donations through the month of August and will match those donations up to $10,000 for victims of the Oregon District mass shooting, Pizza Hut’s Dayton-area franchisee, Hallrich Inc., said in a release. “Our hearts go out to those affected in our community and want to help in this time of sadness,” Ginger Kiefer, Pizza Hut district manager, said in a release.

Dayton Burger Week 

Dayton Burger Week continues through Sunday, Aug. 11 and organizers say it will be making a donation to the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund. “Dayton Strong” merchandise 

Many local businesses are selling "Dayton Strong" T-shirts and merchandise to benefit victims' families and survivors of the Oregon District shooting. A list of area stores can be found here: Local stores designing more 'Dayton Strong' merchandise to help survivors of Oregon District shooting

Salar Restaurant and Lounge 

Salar Restaurant and Lounge in the Oregon District said on its Facebook page Tuesday that it is “opening an hour early every day this week to invite our town and its visitors to celebrate the opportunity to come together. Our featured #DaytonStrong menu, of which 100% of the proceeds are being donated to The Oregon District Tragedy Fund, will vary daily.”

La Puf Sweets

La Puf Sweets bakery at 1003 Shroyer Road at the Dayton-Oakwood border said on its Facebook page that it will donate 10 percent of sales all this week, along with 100 percent of all tips, to the Oregon District Tragedy Fund.

Willowdale Botanicals 

Willowdale Botanicals, which operates a booth at the 2nd Street Market in downtown Dayton, announced on its Facebook page that it is donating the profits of its Body Butter and Heal & Seal salve to the Oregon District Tragedy Fund. The shop is open Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
