"I think we're long past due for something like this," Cleveland Pickle owner Josh Kabat told the newspaper.

The free festival will  benefit Greater Cleveland Volunteers, a volunteer placement service.

The Cleveland Pickle Fest is not the first pickle festival in America or even Ohio.

That event also includes a pickle-eating contest.
