Don’t get your gherkin twisted in a knot. You are going to have to dill with it.
A new pickle-based festival is coming to the Buckeye State.
Save the date, because the Cleveland Pickle Fest is planned for noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at North Coast Harbor, 800 E. 9th Street Pier, Cleveland.
The first-time, family-friendly event is sponsored by Cleveland Pickle and will include pickle beer, pickle-themed dishes, a pickle-eating contest and bobbing for pickles, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
“I think we’re long past due for something like this,” Cleveland Pickle owner Josh Kabat told the newspaper.
The free festival will benefit Greater Cleveland Volunteers, a volunteer placement service.
The Cleveland Pickle Fest is not the first pickle festival in America or even Ohio.
Bagel Street Deli in Athens had its Pickle Fest in March.
That event also includes a pickle-eating contest.
