Save the ice water. There may be an even more chilling way to make your bones shiver for charity.
Springfield’s Ghost Hunting Source will have its inaugural Ghost Hunt for a Good Cause as part of its one-year anniversary, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at its store, 14 N. Lowry Ave. in the Robertson Building.
“This is my time of year. We’ll be doing all things paranormal,” said Ghost Hunting Source founder and owner Darin Hough.
The day will include several activities. Bishop James Long, an exorcist and cast member of the “Ghost Adventures” television series, will do a meet-and-greet noon to 4 p.m. for no cost.
From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., psychic, medium and clairvoyant Michelle Frasca will do scheduled 15-minute readings for $25. Certified psychic medium and Reiki Master Christine Rouch will offer 15-minute readings for $25 each and 30-minute Reiki sessions for $40 each.
A raffle will be available throughout with the chance to win ghost hunting equipment.
The celebration will be capped by a ghost hunt of the Robertson Building, 7 p.m. to midnight. The cost is $20, $10 of which will go to Developmental Disabilities of Clark County, F.F. Mueller Residential Center. Up to 30 guests can participate.
Donations for Developmental Disabilities will also be accepted throughout the event.
“We’re starting to get the name out there,” Hough of said the business, with numerous groups investigating the building, some on a repeat basis.
More events are planned in coming weeks. Spirit Expeditions will be taking registrations for its “Echo through Time” event, a two-hour investigation and paranormal 101 class held at the Robertson Building beginning Friday, Sept. 26.
On Saturday, Oct. 25, Ghost Hunting Source will host an evening with Chip Coffey, star of the series “Paranormal State.” Coffey will do a gallery reading at the event at the State Theater.
