Cox Media Group to restructure newspaper division

Cox Media Group will restructure operations throughout its newspaper division, the company announced Thursday.

For the past year, the company’s four major newspapers, including the Dayton Daily News, have worked to find best practices and ways to consolidate back-office business functions. The company announced Thursday that it will move several operations from other Cox newspapers to Dayton, including some copy editing functions, and will also move to other locations some operations that are currently in Dayton.

Company officials said they expect the overall impact on Dayton jobs to be neutral. The restructuring will occur over the next 18 months.

“We have been operating successfully in Ohio for a very long time,” said Julia Wallace, group vice president for Cox Media Group Ohio. “That’s because we continue to adapt to the constantly changing world. These operational changes will allow us to focus more on better serving our customers – whether that’s readers, viewers or listeners who want high-quality content, or advertisers who want quality service and good results.”
