The former CEO of Urbana-based Robert Rothschild Farm will take a new position as the head of Russell Stover, a chocolate maker based in Kansas City, according to Candy Industry Magazine.

Andrew Desiter most recently served as president and CEO of Robert Rothschild Farm, a specialty food manufacturer just outside Urbana known for its sauces, dips and other food products. The Springfield News-Sun previously reported that Robert Rothschild was bought out earlier this year by Glencoe Capital Management, a capital management firm based in Chicago.

Glencoe has announced that Rothschild Farm will combine with Cincinnati-based Clearbrook Farms, a fruit-based food manufacturer Glencoe acquired in 2016.

Robert Rothschild Farm sells products under various brands, including Robert Rothschild Farm, Game Day Gourmet, Made in Napa Valley and Vineyard Pantry. Its products include sauces, dip mixes, condiments and preserves.

The business began when Robert and Sara Rothschild moved onto a 170-acre Champaign County farm in 1976. Just a few years later, they began selling raspberry preserves and eventually began selling other specialty food products.

In Cincinnati, Clearbrook Farms produces preserves, butters, fillings and sauces.

According to Candy Industry Magazine, Deister will take over duties held by Andreas Pfluger, the company’s most recent CEO. Deister will be responsible for expanding the Russell Stover brand.

Pfluger will continue to oversee the company’s NAFTA region and will coordinate Lindt’s North American companies, including Lindt North America, Ghirardelli Chocolate Co. and Russell Stover Chocolates, according to Candy Industry Magazine.
