The greatest threat from the storms is heavy rain, the NWS said, which could cause local flooding.
The NWS said temperatures will vary depending on where the cold front is, ranging from the low 80s in the northwest to around 90 degrees with heat index values approaching 100 degrees in the southeast.
The rain will continue overnight on Thursday, though chances will dip after midnight. There will still be a chance of showers and thunderstorms through sunrise on Friday. Overnight lows will be around 72 degrees.
On Friday, showers will be likely for most of the day, starting shortly after sunrise and dropping shortly before sunset. There will also be a chance of thunderstorms which will continue throughout the day before also falling in the evening.
Skies will be partly cloudy, with highs around 87 degrees.
On Friday night, there will be a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms that will trail off shortly after midnight. Skies will be partly cloudy and temperatures will fall to a low around 72 degrees.
